Isi artikelThis paper describes the challenges of teaching translating literary works to English students of sixth semester of UPI Bandung. This paper also discusses the adversities faced by students when they are translating the works. The paper employs descriptive method as it describes the phenomena in the form of both the challenges of teaching translating literary works and students’ challenges in translating the works. Textual analysis is used as the paper analyzes samples of students’ translation products. The data were collected through classroom observation, questionnaire and students’ translation products. The paper found that the selection of literary works that fit students need and level of English to use as materials in the class, and the assessment criteria to assess translation products as the challenges in teaching translating literary works. In addition, maintaining the features of the original texts is one of the challenges students are faced with when translating the works.
