The Principle of Correspondence theory is used to evaluate the orientations of the message transfer from the source language to the target language. The data were focused on the words or phrases containing the religious-cultural terms in the English Luke’s Bible which was translated into two Balinese versions. The Luke’s Bible, which may represent the other three Bible’s authors, was chosen as it is rich in the unknown religious-cultural terms. They were paralleled not to be opposed to but to complement one another. It was found that while the Formal Correspondence merely transferred the linguistic meaning by keeping the form for accuracy of the message and content, the Functional Equivalence gave priority to the transfer of cultural concept for the reader.
