Inter - religious encounter (dialogue) is a necessity in this one earth with many religions. Many books have been written and many conferences and meetings have been held over the many years. One of these books is "One earth, many religions" by Prof. Dr. Paul F. Knitter. He argues that religions can found a common ground through which they can come together to partake in the effort to eliminate human suffering and preserve this one earth. He argues for a pluralist correlational and globally responsible model of inter - religious dialogue (theology of religions). This is a challenge for religions in indonesia. In the recent discussion about this book sponsored by SWCU and gunung mulia christian publishing house, the panelists from different religious backgrounds, christianity, islam, buddhism and catholicism are of the opinion that a critical reinterepretation of all the rigid relifious doctrines should be conducted before any fruitful encounter between religions is possible. This religious leaders have to find ways to prepare their communities to meet this global responsibility. In this paper, I argue for two seemingly different but successive approaches in preparing the community of faith "complete integration" (martin luther king, Jr.) and "complete separation (Malcolm X).
