Isi artikelThis paper reports a research that was aimed at exploring the role of implicational universal in second language instruction. Markedness Theory and Accessibility hierarchy were reffered to as two theoretical frameworks. In essence, they point out the possibility that upon learning a marked (difficult) linguistic item, a learner may automatically acquire the eassier items. it was hypothesized then that the learning of two difficult patterns, subject and object relative clausses, will enable learners to acquire reduced relative clause pattern which was supposedly easier then the first two. Data were collected from 45 first year students of a secretarial program. They were taught how to combine sentences using subject and object relative clauses...
