Isi artikelAttitudes have played a central role in the study of prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination since the beginning of research on these topics. Although subsequent research on intergroup relations has developed independently of attitudes theory, there are still many links between the two topics and much that can be learned from integrating this work. This chapter takes a comprehensive look at the current overlap between the fields of attitudes and intergroup relations. Discussion is structured around three key properties of attitudes: content, structure, and function (Maio & Haddock, 2004, 2010). These properties make salient important theoretical and empirical puzzles, novel topics of importance, and promising avenues for future conceptual integration and research.
