Isi artikelThis chapter reviews developmental approaches to intergroup attitudes regarding prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination. How intergroup attitudes emerge, change, and are revealed throughout development is described, particularly regarding everyday, familiar peer and parent-child exchanges. Social developmental psychology has drawn on social psychological constructs to understand children's and adolescents' judgments about individuals from different group memberships (particularly gender, race, ethnicity, and culture), and has provided new insights into the emergence of intergroup attitudes An integrative approach for investigating the development of intergroup attitudes serves to advance the held, and provide a multi-level approach for addressing pervasive problems of exclusion and prejudice from childhood to adulthood.
