The morality of advertising is intensively discussed in today's business ethics, There are particularly two moral questions to be examined in this field, the truth in advertising and the manipulation of consumers by advertising. Both of them are connected with an important ethical principle. The obligation to be truthful and the respect for autonomy. The article discusses succesively the two problems and arrives at the conclusion that ethical reflection on advertising can been seen as a good example of the complexity of moral thought that should always consider all factors involved.
