Degenerative heart diseases remains a burden both in modern or developing countries despite the advances in medical treatment. One key factor is that heart muscle (cardiomyocyte) has low capability to regenerate. Various source and type of stem cells might be potential to overcome the problem, but the results of several studies are mixed, some showed benefits, but also showed adverse effects. Further investigations are still needed.
