Isi artikel
Neonatal sepsis is a clinical syndrome from systemic infection in the first month of the life. The main problem is the identification of neonatal infection. early identification is very important, but it is difficult to do because the signs and symptoms are not specific. Traditional method like blood culture gold standard has several limitations. Hematologic test especially trombocyte parameter is wished can detect bacteial neonatal sepsis. the aim of this study is to know the thrombocyte parameter profil in bacterial neonatal sepsis. This was a retrospective, cross sectional study. This study was done in Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta General Hospital. The subject was a below 0-30 day-baby consisted of neonatal sepsis admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Sardjito Yogyakarta General Hospital. And, the baby must have hematologic test and bood culture. The platelet count and PDW (Platelet Distribution Width) did not show significant difference between the positive blood culture and the negative blood culture (p=0,727; p=0,096), but MPV (Mean Pletelet Volume) and P-LCR (Platelet Large Cell Ratio) showed significant difference (p=0,028; p=0,047). There was positive correlation between MPV, PDW, and P-LCR and negative correlation between platelet count and other parameters in bacterial neonatal sepsis. There was significant increasing of MPV and P-LCR in bacterial neonatal sepsis.
