Isi artikelAlthough many researchers have studied conversational styles related to gender, they have not widely studied written styles, especially those in economics articles. This study examines the differences of cluses in economics articles. It attempts to reveal whether the articles supported the stereotype about women who " talk more actively" than men. In order words, do women also write longer than men? Based on thirteen economics articles from three journals published by Unika Atma Jaya, Jakarta, it is revealed that men and women wrote articles in the relatively same length. There are no differences between gender and the use of complex sentences in econommics articles. Furthermore, there are no differences between gender and the type of clauses of sentences. The types of sentence used by both men and women form the most to the least frequent are complex sentences (kalimat majemuk bertingkat), simple sentences ( kalimat tunggal), a mixture of complex sentences (kalimat majemuk campuran), and equally complex sentences (kalimat majemuk setara).
