Abstract
This study aimed to find out the undergraduate students' perceptions of using Padlet to enhance their motivation in writing classes. The participants of this study were 9 students from the Seminar class in English Education Department of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. In the data collection process, students were asked to fill in a questionnaire containing 10 items to see their perception of using Padlet. The questionnaire was given via Google Form. Furthermore, 3 of the 9 students were interviewed to confirm and strengthen the questionnaire results. The findings were analyzed based on two main aspects: the use of Padlet for writing and Padlet enhancing motivation in writing. The results showed that most of the students agree that Padlet is easy to use and easy to access as a learning tool in writing classes. Students get benefits from the attractive Padlet layout which makes it an internal motivator for students in carrying out writing activities. Feedback from peers and lecturers while using Padlet helps to improve student English writing. The supportive environment formed between lecturers and students becomes extrinsic motivation in carrying out academic writing.
