The present paper deals with the role of ethical theory in handling problems of morality. The theory, in addition to being rational and logically consistent, is also applicable. The application of the theory requires us to formulate a network analysis of theoretical principles, to pay equal attention to the merit of individuals and society, to take away the universal and rigid claims of the theory, to pay special attention to the main dimension accounted for by the theory, and to recognize the change of moral view in society.
