Isi artikelThe question mentioned in this paper's title cannot be answered with a simple yes or no. The first thing to be clarified is what kind of values we mean here are moral values. No doubt, ethics is closely related to moral values. Nevertheless a good ethics course has to avoid the pitfalls of transmitting values in the way of moralizing and indoctrination. The distinction between teaching and educating may be useful. In education we continuously pass on our values. In teaching we stay at the cognitive level. However indirectly our teaching ethics is to attempt to provide our students with a deeper insight into moral life and its existencies. For the rest, without conceding to ethical intellectualism, we trust that this insights will have its effects on their future lives and careers. But we do not have the methods suited to measure these influences adequately.
