This study aimed to investigate lecturers' perceptions of the implementation of Hybrid learning in the English education department and to seek its challenges on the same issue. The participants of this study were 11 lecturers' from Atma Jaya Catholic University, Indonesia, who have implemented the hybrid teaching-learning system. In the data collection process, lecturers asked to fill in a questionnaire containing 40 items to see their perception of Hybrid learning. The qualitative research method used is distributing questionnaires supported by open-ended interviews. Furthermore, 5 of the 11 lecturers interviewed to reconfirm and strengthen the questionnaire results. The findings were analyzed based on four aspects: Attitude toward Hybrid learning, Perceptions of Hybrid learning implementation, Future use of Hybrid learning, and Challenges in implementing Hybrid learning. The results showed that lecturers have positive perception on implementation Hybrid learning for teaching English since it improved students' understanding of the English language and engaged students motivations in learning English. The majority of lecturers believe that Hybrid learning has no drawbacks and has good qualities to attract student motivation in several subjects. Meanwhile, the results of this study also showed that Hybrid learning can be integrated into the learning process andencourages students to self-directed learning. |
