This study aimed to evaluate teachers' perceptions of online learning regarding the advantages, obstacles, and recommendations. The participants of this study were 22 middle and high school English teachers in Tangerang who have become online teachers during the pandemic. Teachers were asked to fill in a questionnaire containing close-ended and open-ended questions in the data collection process. The questionnaire is divided into four subheadings there are categories into advantages of online learning, obstacles of online learning, experiences in online learning, and recommendations for online learning. Furthermore, 3 out of 22 teachers were interviewed to reconfirm and strengthen the questionnaire results. The findings were calculated using the Google spreadsheet formula. The results showed that teachers have positive perceptions of the advantages, obstacles, experiences, and recommendations of online learning. Even though teachers believe that online learning platforms and media can help the implementation of online learning such as increasing teachers’ confidence in teaching and can reduce the cost of transportation. However, it also has many difficulties regarding technical issues, assessing students’ work, and communication between teachers and students. In addition, the result of this study also showed that online learning may be implemented after the pandemic and combine online learning with face-to-face learning to achieve better effectiveness. |
