Isi artikel
This paper discusses the causality between two variables of Indonesian macro economics, namely economic growth and inflation. Granger causality test was employed by using time series data in the period of 1979 – 2009. Model specification was conducted by the use of Nested Test. It was revealed that there is two-way causality between the economic growth and inflation in Indonesia. It is implied that every policy for increasing the economic growth, for instance short-term policy in a form of fiscal expansion or monetary expansion, will cause an inflation. On the other hand, inflation also increases the economic growth in Indonesia. In a nut shell, the policy on Indonesian economic stability is needed; however, to some extend it is not an obligatory.
