Being a teacher often requires adjustment to daily changes whether it is within the classroom, outside of classroom, or in the teacher’s lounge with fellow teachers. COVID-19 has caused drastic changes especially towards how school must be held, therefore requiring the teacher to adapt toward even more changes. Teachers face changes such as instructional methods, use of technology, changes of curricula, and more. Termination of some teachers due to COVID-19 forces the remaining teachers to adapt to changes in their workload and responsibilities. The death of loved ones during the pandemic can also negatively impact the performance of teachers with grief. Therefore, teachers need to develop their adaptability to constructively respond to changes. Adaptability is useful to maintain teachers’ motivation when facing challenges, and to increase the initiative to make positive changes in the workplace. This research aims to identify the changes faced by the high school teachers of Sekolah Hati Suci during COVID-19. The research also aims to understand current responses of the teachers towards the changes, to plan intervention program that encourages more optimum responses to changes. Assessment was done through online interviews and questionnaires consisting of open questions discussing the changes faced by the teachers during COVID-19. Concluding the data obtained from 10 participants, source of changes and challenges faced by the teachers are the need to adjust to online learning, the increase of workload due to the termination of some colleagues, and the grief due to the death of the foundation president of Sekolah Hati Suci. |
