The project-based learning (PjBL) is one common method in teaching. In the EFL classroom, project-based learning often results in a higher success rate. This study aimed to investigate in-service teachers’ perception toward the project-based learning implementation in EFL classroom in terms of teachers’ roles, success & evaluation, and teaching methods. In order to achieve the aim of this study, this research formulated a research question: “What are the in-service teachers’ perceptions towards project-based learning in terms of methods, teacher roles, success and evaluation?”. The participants were thirty-four English in-service teachers from several schools in Jakarta who have been teaching English for at least two years, and or have been applying PjBL in learning. The research data used was the questionnaire responses. This study used a quantitative method design, there are two types of statements in the questionnaire; Likert-scale and checkboxes. The results of the study showed that teachers perceived PjBL is good to be implemented in all school levels. The most frequently used teaching methods were demonstration and discussion. Teachers thought that their roles were to evaluate, motivate, and supervise students. The criteria of students' success were students show enthusiasm and develop sincerity in doing the project. Lastly, peer evaluation or peer feedback was considered suitable in PjBL. |
