Abstract
An FRP C-Beam is designed to fulfill market demand of purlin for industrial building on corrosive environment. Type or cross sectional area of C-Beam is 125 mm x 50 mm x 20 mm. It is common used in industrial building as a purlin with six meters standard length. FRP C-Beam is designed from ortophthalic unsaturated polyester resin as matrix and E-glass continuous roving and chop strand mat as reinforcement. It makes with pultrusion method. Elastic modulus, tensile strength, and flexural strength in longitudinal orientation were found by tensile and flexural tests of it samples based on ASTM standards. Loads that acted to FRP C-Beam are structural roof weight, man/worker weight, and wind force. From static criteria design calculation based on stress and deflection, the optimum FRP C-Beam thickness is 7 mm.
