Inflammatory pain manifests as spontaneous pain aacompanied by pain hypersensitivity. Spontaneous pain is caused by activation of specific receptors on the nociceptor terminal by inflammatory mediators, whereas pain hypersensitivity is due to changes in the early post translation, both in the nociceptor terminal peripheral and in Dorsal Horn neurons, just as changes in the transcription of effector genes in primary sensory neurons. This inflammatory neuroplasticity as a result of a combination of changes in neuronal activity and the presence of specific signal molecules initiating particular signal transduction pathway characterized by hyperalgesia and allodynia.
