Isi artikelInfection of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in genital increased in the past two decades and is the most common cause of viral sexually transmitted disease. HPV infections that cause genital warts, the occurrence of about three times that of symptomatic genital herpes but the incidence is lower than gonorrhea infection and chlamydia. HPV is a DNA virus that infect epithelial, belong to the family Papovaviridae and by hybridization of DNA can be isolated more than 120 types. HPV can not be cultured in vitro so that research on these viruses is very limited. This infection can affect both men and women but more threatening for women, especially because as has been known that there is a relationship between certain types of HPV infection in the genital with the occurrence of cervical carcinoma in women. This is because during the course of her life, a woman experiences a change in serviks squamous metaplasia, which may occur due to the influence of physical, hormonal as in the process of pregnancy or a variety of causes such as HPV infections that can increase the likelihood of occurrence of this cervical malignancy. Diagnosis is based on clinical symptoms. Prevention with individual hygiene and the restriction of sexual activity until the partner's assessment and treatment. Treatment of physical damages, and no cytotoxic therapy can completely eradicate HPV then the goal of therapy is to get rid of warts for cosmetic reasons, improvement of signs and symptoms and not to eradicate HPV. Although often recurrent, good prognosis, which is determined by the ability to pay attention to the predisposing factors that play a role in accelerating and nourish the development of this disease such as individuals who lack hygiene; patients with immune disorders, and factor external suppress the immune system.
