In general, investors in stock exchange markets have two main-frame principles. One are the short-term investors which focus on capital gain profits; while the other focus more on profits generated from cash dividend. For that reason, the author thinks it is important to analyze factors that influence the decision to distribute dividend in the companies. This study is based on a sample of companies that were taken from various sectors except from the financial sector listed at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The dependent variable in this study is the decision to distribute dividend based on the profits of 2009 and the independent variables are the following; earning, retained earning, ROE, volatility of ROE, firm size, leverage, owner structure and last year dividend policy.
