Isi artikelEighty married couples rated their marital satisfaction on Locke's Marital Adjustment Scale and described their spouses by checking descriptive phrases on the Interpersonal Check List. These two sets of scores were correlated and studied in order to determine what, if any, relationship existed between satisfaction in marriage and the social perception subjects had of their spouses. It was concluded that dissatisfied persons described their spouses as having intense qualities and as being decidedly skeptical and distrustful, blunt, and aggressive; satisfied persons perceived their spouses as less extreme persons and as warmly affectionate.
