Production scheduling is one of the most important and optimal tool in manufacturing system, especially in production planning and control. A correct scheduling will give the scheduler a data on how to minimize the production time and costs. PT Servvo Fire Indonesia is a company that manufactures fire extinguisher, the purpose for this research at PT Servvo Fire Indonesia is to improve the production scheduling of the company by minimizing makespan and mean tardiness by using genetic algorithm methods, and the crossover process are done by using taguchi methods. Analysis performed within this research are standard time analysis, proposed production scheduling analysis by using genetic algorithm, scheduling application system analysis, and a comparison of current scheduling with proposed scheduling. Based on the analysis, the results obtained from the genetic algorithm method is a production scheduling with a more optimal makespan and mean tardiness. By using the genetic algorithm methods, the value of makespan for first week of oktober 08 is 2597.47 minute, with a mean tardiness of 535.83 minutes. When compared to the current production scheduling, the company can save production time by 9.41%. The scheduling application system, will help in finding the value of makespan and mean tardiness much more quickly. Hence by finding a better makespan, the company will be able to minimize the production time and costs, which will be an advantage for the company.
