Isi artikel
Feature recognition is an activity to translate design into manufacturing. The purpose of feature recognition is to translate information in technical drawing which relates to machining process by Machining Center. This research proposes a feature recognition algorithm for milling process with 2D drawing input. The algorithm uses loop and rule-based approach. By using logical rule base from extracted loop, feature recognition algorithms was developed to recognize primitive milling features, which are tap hole, counter bore hole, ream hole, square slot, blind slot, square step, long hole, 4-side pocket, 3-side pocket and 2-side pocket. The feature recognition system was designed for two type of data input, which are the single view system and the multiple views system. The single view system uses just one view to identify the features. Output from this system is alternative of possible feature from extracted loop. The multiple views system uses more than one view for the input and output from this system is the identified feature.
