SMEs in Malaysia have difficulties in implementing the most suitable manufacturing strategies for their respective companies. Determining the best manufacturing strategy is not an easy task because of the wide range of choices and constraints a company might face. Nonetheless, only by having a suitable manufacturing strategy and effective use of manufacturing capability, a company would lead success paths to its achievement of business and corporate goals. Thus, this study is to help SMEs determine their manufacturing strategy and the impact of its implementation. A survey among SMEs has been conducted to determine which types of manufacturing strategy does most SMEs adopt, and consequently the effects of choice of manufacturing on the growth of the SMEs could be established. It was found from the fourty four companies responded, that conformance, performance, delivery, speed, dependability and after sales service were regarded as more important while low price, design flexibility, volume flexibility, broad product line, broad distrrbution were considered as moderate important. Implementation of these strategy was also found to give positive impact on the growth of these industries.
