Background: One of the most common human immunodeficiency virus’ (HIV) complications is lung abnormality. Thoracic radiographic is one modality to diagnose lung abnormality which can evaluate morphology, scope, and location of lung abnormality. Objection: To know the proportion of lung abnormality based on thoracic radiographic in HIV infection patients. Methods: This is a resrospective study. Data were obtained from Medical Record Division and Radiology Department of Atma Jaya Hospital, Jakarta. The thoracic radiographic of HIV infection patients who fulfill the inclusion criteria were reevaluated. We recorded the morphology, scope, and location of lung abnormality. Results: From 48 Atma Jaya hospital’s patients who become subjects in this study, the proportion of lung abnormality in HIV infection patients is 70,83%. The most common abnormal morphology is an infiltration which can be found in 21 samples (43,75%). Lung abnormalities are more exist on the right lung (79%) than on left lung (54%). The location of lung abnormalities are more prominent on the medial lobe (36%). Conclusion: The proportion of lung abnormality in HIV infection patients is 70,83%. The most common morphology of lung abnormality is infiltration. Lung abnormalities are tend to attack the right lung in medial lobe. |
