With the higher industrial competition nowadays, the winner is the one that most satisfies its customer. Especially in service industry, the speed of customer service is one of important indicator which leads to customer satisfaction. THK Workshop in Makassar is an authorized workshop of one of leading automotive brand, which the scopes of its works are repainting cars, doing car’s routine service / check up, and repairing various kinds of damages of car’s machine and body. At the operational level, the jobs on the THK workshop are not performed efficiently. For instance, the job of routine service / check up is done in 6 hours, much longer than the time needed for the same job in other workshops. From preliminary research, that 6 hours processing time consists of many unproductive times, like idle times, and too much time for parts handling. In this paper, it will be conducted a structured value stream analysis of the problems on working process to solve the inefficiency problems, and it will be developed the redesign of more efficient working process, which in turn will increase the competitiveness of the THK workshop. To get a comprehensive description about the workshop condition, it will be conducted a top-down analysis which will breakdown the work process in THK Workshop. With VALSAT method, the current condition is mapped and the wastes will be identified. Subsequently, with the bottom-up method, it will be developed the comprehensive redesign work process, which will settle the efficiency problems in workshop. The parameter used in this paper is the time processing. As a result from the analysis, it is gained a redesign of work process in THK workshop with better-arranged lay-out, which produced a more competitive processing time.
