Abstract
Introduction : Falls in the elderly are common and associated with declining in balance function that is influenced by manyfactors such as motor and sensory systems, and cognitive function. Research has shown effectivity of physical exercise program designed to reduce falls, to improve quality of life, and to enhance cognitive functions.

Objective : To describe the relationship between brain vitality exercise with cognitive function, balance, and quality of life in the elderly.

Methods : This was an experimental study that included elderly aged = 60 years old. The treatment group included twenty three subjects who performed brain vitality exercise, three times a week for one year. The control group included twenty five subjects whom did not receive the exercise. Cognitive examination using the instruments in Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer?s Disease(CERAD) and Clock Drawing Test (CDT), and BERG balance scale were performed on all subjects before and after the exercise.

Results : There were 36 subjects in the experimental group and 34 subjects in the control group. The experimental group showed a significant increase in MMSE score and balance scale compared to the control group. There was a significant relationship between CDT, MMSE, verbal fluency, balance score, and increasing QoL domains of psychological health and environmental in the treatment group when compared to control group (p<0,05).

Discussions : Performing routine brain vitality exercisethree times a week can improve cognitive function, balance, and QoL in elderly.
