Abstract
The current study aimed to investigate the implementation of connectivism when teaching news item text in EFL classrooms. In addition, the research investigated the differences between offline and online classes when implementing connectivism theory in EFL classrooms. The researcher interviewed four high school English teachers with experience teaching news item text in offline and online classes. Interview questions used were based on the principles and dimensions of connectivism introduced in the context of language learning by Veselà (2013) and Senior (2010), respectively. The researcher found different approaches in implementing the connectivism theory in offline and online EFL classrooms when teaching news item text from the interviews. Hence, after further analysis, the researcher concluded that the implementation of connectivism in Indonesian schools is still on its way. Moreover, the performance of the offline and online classes is still in the trial and error phase, where teachers are still trying to find the most effective way of teaching online.
