The present research examined the use of intensive listening through selected songs for the improvement of conditional sentences acquisition. The objective of this study find out the effectiveness of intensive listening through selected songs for the improvement of Conditional Sentences Acquisition This study was conducted with the experimental study method. Initially, 20 students in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia that take Communicative English Grammar Course were selected. The instruments of this research were pre-test and post-test, which employed 35 questions with three different types of questions, then analyzed by using the SPSS program. The questions type of test were error analysis, fill in the gap, and comprehension test. Between the pre-test and post-test, there were three times treatments conducted. During the treatments, the students were exposed to the use of intensive listening through songs. Eventually, the result of the research shows that the mean score improved significantly. The findings of the research revealed that the use of songs are effective for improving conditional sentences acquisition. In the pre-test, the participants’ mean score was 55.30. While the participants’ mean score for post-test was 73.50. Based on the calculation, it was revealed that the sig (2-tailed) value showed 0.001 < 0.05. Furthermore, the suggestions offered from this study were that the teacher and future researcher could apply this method in language learning classroom and look for more effective activities to use song lyrics as a teaching medium in conducting further research. |
