Abstract
The present research aims to analyze the errors made by students in their writing on Twitter using Grammarly. The error analysis focused on four aspects of writing, which are correctness, an aspect that covers grammatical and mechanical errors; clarity, an aspect that covers wordiness and parallel construction between sentences and paragraphs; engagement, an aspect that covers the variety of vocabulary used in writings; and delivery, an aspect that covers the choice of words in writings. This research was conducted by collecting as many as 70 tweets written in English by the students. The students who participated in the present research were students from Indonesia and aged between 13 to 20 years old. All of these tweets will then be inserted into Grammarly to be analyzed. In the present study, the researcher used a qualitative method to analyze the students’ writings. The results of the error analysis according to Grammarly showed that the students’ made quite a number of errors in every aspect of writing. Of all the four aspects of writing that were analyzed, the students’ made the least errors in the engagement aspect, especially in the variety of vocabulary used by the students. Meanwhile, the students made the most errors in the correctness aspect, especially in spelling and punctuation. In addition, the results of the analysis from Grammarly also showed that the students' whose readability score are at the level of difficult to read were more than those that were easy to read.
