This study was about the implementation of the flipped learning method to enhance students' speaking skill in English language. The aim of the study was to investigate the flipped learning method to improve students’ speaking skills in UNIKA Atma Jaya. Thus, to find out the results of this study, the research questions were formulated as follows: (1) Does the flipped learning method improve students' speaking skills? (2) What are factors influencing the improvement of the students’ speaking skills when flipped learning is implemented? And (3) What are the challenges faced by the students during the implementation of flipped learning? The participants of this study consisted of 7 students (even semester) from Listening Speaking in Context class section Z at the English Language Education Department, Faculty of Education and Language, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, and the duration of this study was seven weeks. The data in this study were pre- and post-test scores as well as student responses from questionnaires and results from interviews. The results showed that flipped learning method enhance students' speaking skill which can be seen from the pre- and post-test scores, then the results of the questionnaire indicated the factors that influence the improvement of students' speaking skills and the challenges experienced by students during the implementation of flipped learning method. |
