In the aim to control the reasonable growth of medical expenses and to preserve the quality of medical services is appropriate control of inpatient costs is mandatory. Therefore, hospital administrators must to continually monitor service quality and resource utilization through careful analysis of the influential factors. This study adapted “secondary data” – Utilizing the real hospitalization medical expenses data provided by the sampled hospital in Taiwan. The authors applied the DRG-Neural Network (DRG-NN) system for clustering analysis. The purposes of this study are to identify the differences in its resources utilization between each clustering groups, under the same MDC. We also discuss the significance of clustering results and give feedback a better clinical practice guideline for monitoring inceptors of resources utilization.
