Isi artikel
After the 2008 financial crisis many governments did a sort of automotive easing, subsidizing motorists to trade their old bangers for new motors, to stop the car industry from seizing up. But as these scrap-page schemes have expired, car sales have whip-lashed. The slump in sales, and growing competition from Asian makers like South Korea's Kia and Hyundai, have intensified Europe's overcapacity in volume car-making. But most volume car-makers are in crisis.
