The purpose of this study is to analyze small and medium sized construction companies’ operating characteristics and certification of ISO 9001. Hence, ISO 9001 standard is set which is correspond to the construction industry, and results of the business are divided into product outcome, organizational outcome, and financial outcome to show the core activities that positively affect each outcome. As a result of the whole analysis, operational accountability positively influences all of the variables of operational characteristics, and for the outcomes, it influences only financial outcome effectively. Moreover, for the product outcome, it turns out that only cost management influences effectively, and only process control positively affects organizational outcome. However, there is no positive relation to the financial outcome. Also, the result of investigating the difference between certified firms and uncertified firms shows that there is no difference between them.
