Isi artikel
This study reports the preliminary work of developing a discrete event simulation model in collaboration with the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) under Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in Hong Kong. It includes the basic information of the collaborating A&E, major concerns of model development, and expected outputs. The eventual model will be able to capture the major operational characteristics of A&E such as patient arrival patterns, patient flows, major medical operations, etc. The model will allow A&E management to examine various operational alternatives so as to optimize medical operations and streamline patient flows, hence reduce waiting times and enhance patient satisfaction.
