Isi artikel
The earliest studies of the Ranschburg effect of immediate recall (Kleinknecht, 1906; Ranschburg, 1902) reported that repetition of elements impaired recall regardless of their locations in the string. However, all modern studies report improved recall for adjacent repeated elements and impairment only when the repeated elements were not adjacent and occupied serial positions that were unfavorable for recall. Important procedural differences exist between these two groups of studies and suggest that there may be two different Ranschburg effects. Although the three experiments presented here were modeled after and extended the Ranschburg study, the results are in agreement with those of contemporary studies. There appears to be "just one" Ranschburg effect.
