Isi artikelIt may come as a surprise to some to find the archbehaviorist John B. Watson publishing in a journal coedited by the archintrospective psychologist E. B. Titchener. In fact, Watson and Titchener were friends in spite of their theoretical differences. Watson and Morgan's paper reports their classic research on the "emotional reactions.. . belonging to the original and fundamental nature of man: fear, rage, and love." In these classic observations, Watson and Morgan worked with human infants during their first months of life, attempting to determine the fundamental emotions. The article is more anecdotal than experimental, but lays the basis for Watson's thinking in his later experiments on the conditioning of fear, the "little Albert" experiments.
