Isi artikel
This paper describes a research project prepared for the MA in Applied Research in Education at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. It portrays the initial stages of an action research project undertaken in occupational therapy fieldwork. The work explores the roles and interpersonal relationships within the triad of student, fieldwork supervisor and school tutor during placements and identifies the points at which confusions and conflicts arise. It represents a stage of information giving and discussion which has highlighted the need for local collaborative planning and situation specific strategies for student fieldwork programmes which is currently being undertaken. The project findings suggest that while innovation in education has influenced college based learning and teaching, fleldwork education has retained a number of traditional practices and philosophies rather than fully implementing top-down educational proposals. The work attempts to represent each group's perceptions and understandings of the roles and responsibilities implicit in the current situation. This article also explores the personal and methodological problems of the research, and anticipates how the research will proceed.
