Is technology value-neutral or value-laden? This is the question that faces us as we begin to make sense of where technology, particularly educational technology, is today, and where it may be leading us. This special issue takes up the question of technology neutrality, and underlying ethical questions, as we move further into a postmodern existence where game consoles are able to read our physical body movements and respond to them, and where smartboards rapidly outpace chalkboards or traditional whiteboards in classrooms. This is a world where most of our learners have been able to write their autobiographies in an ongoing fashion all of their lives thanks to Facebook, YouTube, and other media.
