The aim of this research is to analyze the optimum holding time and carburizer composition during pack carburizing process. The holding time was varied between 4 and 6 hour and the ratio of andong’s bamboo charcoal:natrium carbonate as carburizer were 10%:90%; 20%:80%; 30%:70%; dan 40%:60%.. Carbon diffusion thickness were obtained by measuring hardness with microvickers hardness tester and the data was taken from the surface of the specimen. The results showed that the carbon diffusion thickness were affected by the ratio of carburizer and the holding time during pack carburizing process. The optimum ratio of natrium carbonate and charcoal was 10%:90% with the holding time was 6 hour.
