The concept of inclusive business has frequently been discussed, particularly given the increased recognition of the weaknesses of development that solely considers economic growth as well as corporations seeking nothing but profit. There has been greater interest in the sustainable practice of inclusive business. This article examines the concept of inclusive business as well as its importance, using a literature review to identify the main sources offering a conceptual understanding of inclusive business. This literature review shows that inclusive business is conceptually a means of reducing the number of poor residents through corporate activities that include everyone within the "bottom of the pyramid" (i.e. the corporate business chain and market mechanism). A review of the empirical inclusive business practices by Unilever has been used to obtain a greater understanding of inclusive business practices. This research shows that Unilever has implemented inclusive business practices in both the Indonesian and global market. These inclusive business practices have been implemented in various stages of the business chain, including agriculture, production, and distribution. Further research using this primary data will be beneficial for understanding how inclusive business practices are used by the private sector, as well as comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the promises of inclusive business. |
