Nowadays, accidents still occur in train operations because of train construction problems and human errors. The consequences of human errors could be minimized with an automation system which could subtitutes human role in train operations. The purpose of this research is to create a new automation system in splitting and merging railroads which is demonstrated in a train miniature. The automation system includes the railroad changeover, count down signaling and circuit rail. In splitting rail, the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) manages the railroad changeover automatically when sensor detects train. In merging rail, the PLC manages railroad to changeover, circuit rail in order to move or stop the train and the seven segment display to start counting down (showing waiting time). The displaying of seven segment is organized by microcontroller with the input from PLC. The result of this research is an automation system which can reduce train accidents.
