A single period inventory is a one-period producing or purchasing particular item. After that one period, the particular item cannot be sold with original price. Bread is one example of deteriorating item that could only be sold for a particular period, usually for one or two days (first step selling). The leftover bread will be sold with cheaper price (second step seling). The leftover bread from the second step selling usually sold for animal food with price lower than the price of second step selling. The research was conducted one of Magelang’s bread distributor. The distributor took the bread from a bakery in Temanggung and distributed them to several stores in Magelang. The demand of bread for each store is varied and has a random distribution. The leftover bread from the first day selling will be collected and sold to Tenongan at the second day with a cheaper price. Tenongan will buy all of the leftover bread with varying prices depend on the number of leftover bread. If the number of leftover bread are less than or equal to a certain quantity, Tenongan will buy using c1 price, otherwise Tenongan will buy them using c2 price where c1> c2. A simulation model is built to determine how much bread should be purchased from the bakery in Temanggung and how much bread should be sent to each store in order to maximize profit.
