In the world of manufacturing industries which are required to produce the product in a short time with optimal quality of result, the use of technology, Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided Manufacture has been used extensively both in the design process and selection of machining strategies. Optimal machining results influenced by the ability of software to provide machining strategy, which could accommodate all forms of model, especially in process of finishing as a determinat of the outcome of the product. CATIA and PowerMill is two among a variety of CAM software which available on the market. In this study, the authors tries to simulate the machining of their strategy-their oftware, then will test the quality of machining CAM sofware with these two. Items analyzed is the product of Lower Die Draw 52.185. Dies requiring high precision in its use for the pressing process. In this study, precision is measured based on the total error (gauge aand excess) that are from the simulation machinery. Form the analysis by considering the time and the quality of machining, toolpath strategy obtaned Interleaved Constant Z finishing toolpath from PowerMill as the most optimal strategy for finishing work.
