Apis cerana Fabricius is the Asian local honeybee that spread to almost all regions of Indonesia. A. cerana is one type of honeybees are farmed, but being pressured by the A. mellifera which is the introduction from European, whereas A. cerana possess their advantages. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the benefits of local honeybees A. cerana. The method used literature study, and direct observation in a apiari A. cerana. Results showed that honeybees A. cerana have advantages such as resistance to pests and predators, easily adapt to different environments, have a high ecological functions and economic value.
