This study seeksto give insight on the implementationof online learning amidst the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the purpose of this research is to investigate the implications and challenges of online learning on the five pedagogical aspects which include instructional design, interaction, feedback, teacher’s roles, and assessment. One-hundred-and-two (102) teachers, who are forced to shift their teaching mode to online with little preparations, were asked to participate in a survey to examine their perceptions upon implementing the online learning in their classrooms. In general, the study reveals that despite the false perception on the concept, the teachers are able to conduct online learning with minimal technical difficulties. Instructions are carefully prepared to assist remote learning and feedback as well as assessments are provided accordingly to monitor the students’ performances. Nevertheless, while teachers’ adaptability to technology did not surface as a notable challenge, their limited knowledge on integrating the appropriate media to facilitate learning may present itself as an opportunity for the teachers to upgrade their skills. Further studies on the students’ perception may be explored to provide a comprehensive view of the implications and challenges of online learning in Indonesia during the pandemic. |
