This study is about text comprehension in elementary school learners. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether or not reading aloud helps young learners to comprehend English texts and also to find out which levels of thinking skill the students improve because of the reading aloud session. In order to get the data, the writer used instruments the pre-test and the post-test. The participants included 25 fourth graders of a non-bilingual elementary school in Jakarta. The study was asked the participants to answer the comprehension questions. Based on the results of the study, which analyzed by using SPSS, it was found out that reading aloud helps students’ English text comprehension and their thinking skill is on a lower level. |
