This paper reports on the activities of the European Information Centre for the Further Education of Teachers (EIC - FET) in Prague. EIC - FET involvement in conferences held with UNESCO or other international organisations is reviewed. EIC - FET multilingual publications within Charles University or UNESCO series and the structure of the EIC - FET documentation file and the nature of its information and services are discussed. The development of the European INSTEP database and its linkage to the UNESCO / IBE international Network of Educational Information is described. The international survey of EIC - FET users shows their profiles as 'recipients' and 'suppliers' of information and their geographical structure in comparison with the provenance of information sources. The salient perspectives of EIC -FET as a specialised resource and reference centre in Europe as identified in international meetings are described.
